Duck Hunts
At GGS Outfitters, we offer many different hunt types. Our Puddle Duck Hunts are in the flooded grain fields (impoundments), which are mostly corn or Japanese millet, planted an maintained by GGS Outfitters. These hunts can boast assorted bags including species such as, Pintail, Wigeon, Gadwall, Mallard, Black Ducks, Shovelers, Teal, and Ring Necked Ducks. Most all of these hunts will take place out of blinds that are 12 feet long and 4 feet wide.
Open Water Diver Hunts
GGS Outfitters is equipped with two large flat bottom skiffs, to navigate the waters of the Pamlico Sound. On these hunts we have the capability to hunt directly from the boat, or from the shores of the Pamlico Sound, while more often than not hunting over large spreads of decoys, that include rigged decoy nets, and large numbers of single decoys sometimes totaling over 100, placed for the best visibility to passing fowl. When hunting the open water with GGS Outfitters, hunters could have opportunities to bag several different species of Diver Ducks, including Bluebills, Redheads, Buffleheads, Ruddy Ducks, and the occasional Canvasback. Also on these hunts bonus birds, such as Wigeon, Gadwall, Teal, and Black Ducks are not unheard of. On all open water hunts we recommend hunters shoot a minimum of 3” number 2 steel shot as the open water ducks tend to be quite tough birds.
