Brad Gurganus is a native of Hyde County, North Carolina and the Owner/Operator of GGS Outfitters (Gurganus Guide Service). He has been hunting in Hyde County and Eastern Carolina since he was 11 years old. His grandfather, Howard Cahoon, also a native of Hyde County was a hunting guide in the Lake Mattamuskeet area in the 1950`s. He passed the love of hunting and guiding on to Brad, teaching his grandson where to go and what to look for.
Brad started guiding when he was still in high school, and on many occasions cutting the school day short when it was hunting season. All of the GGS Outfitters guides are locals to Hyde County, North Carolina and have grown up hunting. They are friendly, personable, and knowledgeable, and each one shares a pride of the craft, that they are happy to share with you. In the offseason many of the guides are farmers or fisherman.
By profession, the Gurganus and Cahoon families farmed, and it is the vast amount of agriculture, and the surrounding wetlands that makes Hyde County prime hunting grounds. Brad worked alongside his grandfather farming, and now plants millet, beans, corn, oats, sunflowers and grain sorghum. Brad is also a Captain and District Manager for the NC Ferry Division. He often crabs in the off-season and thoroughly enjoys all the outdoor riches Hyde County and Eastern Carolina have to offer.
It is GGS Outfitters mission to provide you with a fun, enjoyable and productive trip that will create memories for you and your party to remember for years to come.
